

New Zanj is a self-publishing vehicle for the writings of Jonathan Waters. New Zanj was formed with Rhona Chapman in 2006 as a vehicle for historical and contemporary publications. Waters attended Blakiston and Prince Edward schools, and went to Rhodes University, where he read for a BA in Journalism and Economics. He is the author of Harare: Urban Evolution (published in 2015), Kariba: Legacy of a Vision (2020), Tree Tales of Zimbabwe, (2021), A Glass Half Full (2022), which is a history of Zimbabwe’s wine industry, and Cheers – A History of Beer in Zimbabwe (2023).

Rhona Chapman undertakes all the design and layout, having trained at the Bulawayo Polytechnic. They have worked on a number of commissions for corporates, including the 100th anniversary of National Foods in 2020 and the 125th of Delta Corporation in August 2023.
